Bougon

Prehistory

The world-famous necropolis of Bougon where a splendid prehistory museum has just been erected.
Discovered and excavated in the middle of the 19th century, the tumulus "remained inactive" after their purchase by the Deux-Sèvres...
Mr Jean-Pierre Mohen, curator of the Saint-Germain museum, undertook a new search campaign from 1970. This campaign has allowed everyone to better realize the importance of this neolithic necropolis, by dating the different tumulus and by restoring them with passion... The Deux-Sèvres' County Council, in view of the "touristic" significance of the site, decided to start up the splendid prehistory museum which combines ancient and modern and relates the humanity story.

Churches in Haut Val de Sèvre

The only remains from the first two centuries of Christian churches are the very simple portal and the square bell-tower overhanging it.
The only one nave, rebuilt in the 15th century, has lost its gothic vaults.
